The SNUPY Awards

What are the SNUPY Awards?

The SNUPY Awards were created by the SNU Office of Sports Information in 2004 and is designed to honor Southern Nazarene University’s Student-Athletes for excellence on the playing field, in the classroom and in life.

Who can win a SNUPY Award?

Any one of SNU’s 370 plus athletes are eligible to win a SNUPY based on their nomination in a specific category.

Who votes for the SNUPY Awards?

Southern Nazarene University’s coaches and athletic staff submit the nominations for each award. The SNUPY Awards Committee then narrows the nominees down. The final vote consists of an Athletic Department vote, an online campus wide vote, and final vote of the SNUPY Awards Committee.

Is this a Hall of Fame Ceremony?

No. The SNUPY Awards are designed to honor excellence for a given academic year. While individual careers can and will be honored, the Hall of Fame will ultimately be a separate entity from the SNUPY Awards.

Who can attend the SNUPY Awards show?

Anyone can attend the show. Admission is free.

What are the seating arrangements for the SNUPY Awards?

The floor tables are reserved for the SNU student-athletes and coaches ONLY. The rest of the seating is on a first come, first serve basis. The Sawyer Center will seat approximately 5,500 for the SNUPY Awards Show.

Where is the SNUPY Awards held?

The 2004 SNUPY Awards will be held in the Sawyer Center on the campus of Southern Nazarene University. The show will begin at 7:00 p.m. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.

Who’s the host?

This year’s hosts will be Southern Nazarene University’s Sports Information Department. Sports Information Director, Scott Secor, and Associate Sports Information Director, Scott Regester, will be the hosts for the evening.

Who will present the awards?

Current Southern Nazarene University student-athletes, faculty, staff and students as well as former athletic alumni will be the presenters for the show. The presenters are pre-chosen by the SNUPY Awards Committee.

How many awards will be presented?

There will be 15 awards presented on the night, listed below. There will also be special recognition of the current years All-Americans, Academic All-Americans, and a special presentation to the graduating senior class.

What will the winner win?

A SNUPY. The presenters will present the winner with an actual SNUPY on stage.

What’s the dress attire for the evening?

Formal. The SNUPY Awards show is intended to be a high-class evening and the student-athletes are encouraged to wear their best outfits for the night. Audience members are also encouraged to dress appropriately.
