Adam Bohac, Head Men's Basketball Coach

Adam Bohac begins his second season at the helm of the Crimson Storm men’s basketball program after guiding SNU to a 20-12 record in 2008-09. The Crimson Storm finished 6th in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 12-10 record.

Bohac (pronounced Bo hah ch) came to SNU from the United States Military Academy, where he served as assistant for Jim Crews during the 2007-08 season. At West Point, Bohac focused on recruiting. Army was a Patriot League Semifinalist in ’07-‘08 and posted the program’s most Patriot League wins in school history. Bohac’s recruiting class was ranked 77th in the nation this season by Hoop Scoop.

Bohac originally came to Southern Nazarene in 2004, where he served as an assistant for Mike Broughton for three seasons. At SNU, Bohac was Broughton’s main recruiter and helped guide SNU to the 2007 SAC Tournament Championship and the Sweet 16 of the NAIA National Tournament. In 2007, SNU finished 6th in the nation in the final NAIA National Poll. Bohac was SNU’s recruiting coordinator, scouting coordinator, video coordinator, and he coached SNU’s perimeter players.

Bohac also coached the Athletes First AAU Team, guiding that team to a 25-2 record from 2005-07, including four tournament championships. With Athletes First, Bohac coached the L.A. Clipper’s and NBA first round draft pick, Blake Griffin, along with currently Oklahoma State player Obi Muonelo.

Bohac is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, where he played for former Cornhusker’s coach, Barry Collier. Bohac was a First Team Academic All Big Twelve selection in 2004 and a four year letterman. Bohac was Nebraska’s Most Outstanding Attitude Award winner in 2003 and 2004 and was a Big Twelve Commissioners Honor Roll recipient five times.

Bohac went to Nebraska from Kimball High School in Kimball, Nebraska, where he was a standout player during his career. At Kimball, Bohac was an All-State selection in 2000 and was the leading scorer in the state of Nebraska in 2000, averaging 25.6 points per game. Bohac was also an All-State football selection in 2000.

Adam is married to former SNU women's basketball great, Christie (Rush). The two were married in August of 2008.

Artavius Bogan, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Artavius Bogan begins his second season as an assistant coach for the Southern Nazarene University men's basketball program.

Bogan spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Florida. Bogan was instrumental in helping the Indians reach the National Championship game in 2007 and has helped to coach the Indians to two Panhandle Conference Championships.

Bogan’s primary responsibilities at Chipola included recruiting, player development, assisting with team defense, serving as strength and conditioning coordinator, and on-floor coaching during practices and games. Bogan played a key role in the development of 2007 National Junior College Player of the Year award winner JaMarcus Ellis, who now is at Indiana University. In addition, Bogan’s work with the post players has been key to the success of former Indians DeAndre Thomas (Indiana) and Johnnie Harris (New Mexico).

Prior to his arrival at Chipola, Bogan spent two seasons at Seminole State Community College in Seminole, Oklahoma. Before joining the coaching ranks, Bogan was a successful player at both Wallace State Community College (Selma, AL) and the University of Montevallo. During his freshman season at Wallace State, Bogan helped guide his team to a Region 22 runner-up finish.

Bogan, a Birmingham, Alabama native, spent his high school days playing basketball at Phillips High School. During his senior season, he served as co-captain and helped Phillips to a runner-up finish at the State Tournament.

Jeff Caha, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Jeff Caha begins his first year as an assistant coach at Southern Nazarene and brings experience and energy to the Crimson Storm. This past season, Coach Caha spent time with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League as well as working at Velocity Sports Performance in Champlin, Minnesota. While at Velocity, Coach Caha worked alongside legendary speed trainer Bill Welle, who has trained numerous pro and college athletes helping them develop speed, quickness and agility.

During the 2007-2008 season, Coach Caha worked with former SNU great Todd Thurman at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in nearby Weatherford, Oklahoma. While at SWOSU, Caha helped the Bulldogs climb as high as 8th in the NABC NCAA Division II Poll and finished the season 21-9, while senior forward Nate Perry was a Honorable Mention All American and 1st Team Lonestar Conference selection, junior Abdulah Lawal was the Lonestar Defensive Player of the Year and 2nd Team Lonestar Selection, and junior Clarke Hale was a 3rd Team Lonestar Selection.

Prior to SWOSU, Coach Caha spent four years as an assistant to Coach Jerry Carrillo at Cochise College in Southeastern Arizona. As a member of the Runnin’ Apaches,, Caha was responsible for working with and developing the post players and served as the recruiting coordinator. Caha also was in charge of study hall and was the Runnin’ Apaches strength and conditioning coach. Scouting and on-floor coaching duties rounded out his responsibilities. In Coach Caha’s four years at Cochise, the Runnin Apaches had an overall record of 87-39, won one ACCAC Championship (2005-2006), won 3 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Awards (2004-2005, 2005-2006, 2006-2007), had 7 players move on to the Division I level, and overall had 16 players continue their playing career at 4 year institutions. Coach Caha also helped develop 1 First Team NJCAA All American and 10 All Conference members.

Prior to Cochise College, Coach Caha was an assistant coach at Wayland Baptist University. While on the coaching staff at Wayland Baptist,Caha worked with Southern Nazarene alum Todd Thurman. His responsibilities included working with post players, scouting, and coordinating the Pioneer Championship Camps. In his last season at Wayland, Caha helped lead the Pioneers to a 22-9 record and No. 15 NAIA Division I national ranking.

Before he became a member of the coaching ranks, Coach Caha had a respectable playing career. From 1997 to 1999, he played for Coach Jerry Carrillo at Cochise College. In his sophomore year, the team broke the school record for wins with a 24-8 season. After Cochise, he played at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, under Southern Nazarene legend Todd Thurman. In his senior season at Wayland, Caha was named honorable mention all-conference, the team finished the season ranked No. 25 in the nation, won 20 games for the first time in 10 years, and made its first NAIA national tournament appearance since the 1991-1992 season.

Coach Caha earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in management and marketing, a Masters Degree in sports administration, and is a certified strength and conditioning coach with his USA Weightlifting Certification.
