(BETHANY, Okla.)---Southern Nazarene’s baseball program held their second annual Scout Day on Wednesday, September 30th, at the Cypert Athletic Complex. Approximately 20 scouts from Major League Baseball clubs visited the Cypert Complex; representatives from the Rockies, Diamondbacks, Brewers, Rays, Braves, Mariners, Padres, Indians, Braves, Cardinals, Orioles, Athletics, Giants, Royals, Tigers, Blue Jays and others watched players display their skills in the Sooner Athletic Conference Scout Day.
“Two of our players were drafted after last season,” said SNU head coach Elliot Johnson. “We are hopeful this day will ‘wet the appetite’ of MLB teams and more will be signed after the 2010 season. I was overjoyed with the turnout.”
In the June 2009 draft, SNU pitchers, Matt Morgal (Blue Jays) and Josh Cephas (Padres) were chosen in the 13th rounds and 32nd round, respectively. Four players on the current SNU roster have been previously drafted.
SNU opens up their 2010 season on February 5th at Huston-Tillotson in Austin, Texas.
